1. Choose an angle

There are various angles that you can look at immigration from. Do you want to analyze the political implications of immigration? Does the effect of immigration on economy interest you? Are you interested in the social aspect of the act? The narrower your topic is, the better. Thus, before you begin writing your paper, discern which stand you want to take and make it clear in your introduction.

2. Choose a side

Are you on the side of the immigrant or the country receiving them? There are plethoras of ways from which immigration can be analyzed, and each has its own pros and cons. If you want to look at how immigration is a growing problem and needs to be curbed, you should include the same in the introduction. 4. Mind your tone

It depends on whether you are writing a subjective or an objective report. An introduction in the passive voice will give you a more formal feeling, and prepare the reader for serious discussions. An actively voiced report can be more engaging, and can include various sources other than scholarly articles. These may have a huge impact on the subject matter.
